Jazz Services is proud to be working in close partnership with NYJO (the National Youth Jazz Orchestra). 46 years after its founding by the indomitable Bill Ashton OBE, NYJO is in the midst of a dramatic transformation programme to change from an individually-inspired organisation into a truly national arts institution. With support and advice from Jazz Services, and led by MD Mark Armstrong, Professor of jazz at the Royal College of Music, NYJO has already developed a more innovatory musical policy, re-structured its governance, commissioned exciting new pieces, been invited to appear at prestigious Festivals and other high-profile gigs, and agreed a Strategic Partnership with Conservatoires UK. More changes are in the pipeline for 2012 -13; Jazz Services and NYJO look forward to a continuing collaboration, to the benefit of British jazz education.
