Jazz Services:
Rural Touring Support & Recording Support Schemes
Jazz Services is pleased to announce the return of two funding schemes for the summer of 2012: the Rural Touring Support Scheme and the Recording Support Scheme.
Both schemes’ application period is open from Tuesday 31st July until Friday 31st August. For more information and details on how to apply, please see below and follow the links to the Jazz Services website.
Rural Touring Support Scheme
The Rural Touring Support Scheme offers funding support for bands wishing to tour in rural areas not often covered by regular touring routes. Rural tours often take place in more out-of-the-way locations, in areas not well served by touring bands or other arts events. As well as opening up jazz to new audiences, these rural tours offer a different perspective on the live scene and serve to help bring communities together.
Due to the nature and practicalities of rural touring, the scheme is not suited to every band but nonetheless offers a unique opportunity for the right artists to reach new audiences and broaden their touring horizons. More than 50 bands applied to the previous scheme, and we hope to inspire a similar level of interest during this year’s application period.
Recording Support Scheme
The Recording Support Scheme offers support for bands wishing to record their first album. We hope that future incarnations of the scheme will extend beyond this, but at present it is geared towards giving up-and-coming groups a helping hand at the start of their careers.
The initial Recording Support Scheme attracted a lot of interest and we were proud to help several excellent bands get off the recording starting block – these included the Jamil Sheriff Octet, Real Book North West Band, Seb Pipe's Life Experience, the Robert Mitchell Trio and Jan Kopinski's Reflektor.
