This report is the second in a series of mapping documents commissioned by Jazz Services Ltd from Mykaell Riley (University of Westminster) and Dave Laing (University of Liverpool). The first covered a 12 month period in 2004-2005 and is referred to in this report as 2005. The current report deals with jazz in Britain in the year 2008 and where possible data from that year is compared with similar data published in the earlier report. However, in two areas the current report provides greater detail than its predecessor. These are the subject matter of chapter 3 (Recording) and chapter 4 (Media).
