Jazz Services received funding from Arts Council England to record 8 bands over two years. This pilot scheme is being operated in conjunction with 33 Records studio and distribution outlets.
Bands that have recorded unders the scheme so far have been: Jamil Sheriff Octet, Real Book North West Band, Seb Pipe's Life Experience, the Robert Mitchell Trio and Jan Kopinski's Reflektor. These exciting bands all reflect Jazz Services' touring policy which is: 'good quality [music] that promotes musicians of merit not readily promoted by the commercial sector and reflects the Jazz Services’ equal opportunities policy. The scheme is geared to small groups and covers the full range of jazz and jazz related music idioms and styles.' The recording projects were all new projects that had not been previously released.
