After an extraordinary selection party at Steinway Hall involving pianists as diverse as Liane Carroll, John Law, Russ Henderson, Simon Wallace, Kit Downes, Tom Cawley, Joe Stilgoe, John Pearce, Robert Mitchell and many others, a new Steinway B piano was finally chosen for Pizza Express, Dean Street. Ross Dines, the new Music Manager at Pizza Express, says 'we are extremely happy to be launching this ongoing relationship with Steinway, and to have the opportunity to provide a superb instrument to the world class artists that perform at Dean St.’ The piano will be launched, alongside a second Steinway B, in a series of concerts from Sunday 22nd March. Featuring duo performances from Stan Tracey and Keith Tippett, Kit Downes and Tom Cawley, Ian Shaw and Liane Carroll, John Taylor and Gwilym Simcock, the piano will surely be baptised into the jazz world in the safest possible hands.
