Christine Tobin awarded the British Composer Award for Contemporary Jazz

Jazz Services is happy to share fantastic news that last night the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) announced the winners in 13 categories of the 2012 British Composer Awards. Christine Tobin received the award in the Contemporary Jazz Composition category for her latest album "Sailing to Byzantium".

The other two musicians shortlisted for the Award in the jazz category were Laura Jurd ("Giant's Causeway") and Alex Roth ("The Charm of Impossibilities") - a great achievement for these young composers.

The Awards will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on December 9th.
