Rising stars of the UK jazz scene since formation in 2010, Dagda sum up what inspires their music in three words: Culture, Tradition and Experience. Led by saxophonist Tom Harrison, the band features guitarist Billy Adamson, bassist Tom West, drummer Mike Clowes. Dagda announce an April tour to launch their eponymously titled debut album. Dagda's music is truly communally composed. Sketches are brought to rehearsals and are developed through discussion, before being manipulated through a process of live performances. Gigs are recorded to capture inspired ideas that have happened in the moment. The recordings are then discussed and picked apart in rehearsals. These effective ideas are then incorporated into the compositions themselves for future performances. The album features award-winning saxophonist Michael Buckley who is replaced on tour by a who?s who of British saxophone players including Jean Toussaint and Paul Booth. Tom Harrison has performed with Jason Yarde, Julian Siegel, Chris Batchelor, Gene Calderazzo, Mark Lockheart, Robert Mitchell and Liam Noble at venues including Ronnie Scott's and The Vortex as well as London, Derry, Manchester and Marsden Jazz Festivals. In 2010 he was shortlisted for the Peter Whittingham Award for Innovation in Jazz, and in 2011 nominated for a London Jazz Award. Described by Gilad Atzmon as "an upcoming original guitarist, an organic, authentic talent and a dream of a musician", Billy Adamson has performed at Ronnie Scott's, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Royal Opera House, The 2011 Montreux Jazz Festival and The International Festival of Arts in Zimbabwe. He has recorded at Abbey Road and BBC Maida Vale Studios, whose output went on to win BBC Maida Vale Session of the Year at the 2009 World Wide Awards. He has performed on numerous national radio and TV shows in France with newly signed Universal artist Sara Schiralli. Tom West recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Music where he was taught by top UK bassists Jeremy Brown (BBC Big Band), Tom Herbert (Polar Bear and Acoustic Ladyland), and studied composition with Pete Churchill. Tom has performed in various jazz venues in the UK and Europe such as Ronnie Scott's, The 606 Club and Glasgow Jazz Festival. Tom is a former member of The National Youth Orchestra with whom he performed in major concert venues including the Royal Albert Hall, St Paul's Cathedral and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Tom performs regularly around the UK, and is heavily involved in education projects with the National Youth Jazz Collective and the Royal Academy of Music's 'Open Academy.' After moving to London in 2008 to study at the Royal Academy of Music, Mike Clowes has performed regularly at jazz venues around the UK and beyond. These include Ronnie Scott's, The Vortex and the 606 Club. Mike has toured extensively in the UK, Europe and Canada performing with leading musicians, including Ian Shaw, Abram Wilson, Quentin Collins and The James Taylor Quartet
