BREACH came about when three of Scotland's most progressive and versatile musicians started hanging out and playing together. An organ trio that avoids the cliches of the format, each member draws out surprising sounds and composes material drawing from electronica, rock and folk worlds as well as jazz. All share the desire to enter new territory and trample over musical preconceptions. Guitarist Graeme Stephen is well known as a highly original guitarist and composer with various groups including NeWt, Fraser Fifield and his own Sextet. Winner of the 2011 Scottish Jazz award for Best Instrumentalist he was selected for the Take Five professional development scheme in 2008. Graeme's latest project is a commission to compose a new soundtrack for the classic silent movie 'Sunrise'.
In 2009 Paul Harrison won the award for Best Pianist at the first Scottish Jazz Awards, and received another Scottish Jazz Award in 2011 for his composition The Hospitalfield Suite. He has performed internationally with a host of world class musicians and has led his own successful groups, releasing two acclaimed albums with Trianglehead. He also produces electronica under the alias Phenoplastic. Since arriving in Scotland, Canadian drummer and composer Chris Wallace has worked with many of the country's top jazz musicians. A member of the experimental trio NeWt, a group that has begun building international credentials via its recent collaborative work with Berlin saxophonist Silke Eberhard. His quartet Loose Grip recently released their debut album.
