Born in Vancouver, Canada, Wally Fawkes was a member of George Webb's Dixielanders in the 1940s, where he met Humphrey Lyttelton who remained a friend and collaborator for many decades. This video shows the two together in footage from 1983. Fawkes' love of Sidney Bechet is evident from the beginning of 'Trog Blues', named after Fawkes' 'Trog' nom de plume as a cartoonist, a career which brought him even more fame.
